    Unhappy Re:Getting white socks white.!

Has anyone out there got a miracle way of getting the white socks on the back legs
clean.I have three boys with white, two of them it sparkles wether they have been bathed or not but the third boy is a nightmare. The other two seem to have a lovely silky texture to the fur where as poor Welly's seem to be more woolly & whatever I try I just don't seem to be able to get them clean,we both end up in tears when we head to the bathroom for about the third or fourth visit in two days before a show.I have used goop, hand cleaner, just about every shampoo I can think of,even once tried diluted hydrogen peroxide, nothing has ever got them truly white yet so on show day end up having to powder them so at least they look presentable. We would both appreciate not having to spend so much time leg scrubbing....

Have you tried chalk? Maybe it's the litter you use that stains?

    Re:socks

Thanks for that I will give it a go.
It just doesen't seem to be litter that he picks up discolouration from, even running out in the garden all the others can dig a hole, clean themselves up & white goes back to white, poor Welly just takes on this dirty stain that won't wash out, during the summer they walk up the "runway" as I call it between two waterfalls by the pond & very often the water is green, again all the others paddle about & although we might have to wash their socks they still come back to white, not Welly he takes on a lovely green tinge, panic. As I said I am sure it is a lot to do with his furr being like a thick wooly texture there rather than silky like the rest but will go get some chalk & Welly could be ever grateful to you.

Chalk will only mask it, sadly.

    Surprised that goop didn't work.

Yep,so was I,gooped us both silly the first time I realised his socks were not clean,I done twice the one night & twice more the following day before the show,I ended up putting talc on him but the smell was a bit poofy, next time I tried fast orange & have to say I prefer thet to goop but still not a complete sucess with getting them clean, reckon I will have to get him to live up to his name & give him some wellies to wear...!
Fingers crossed the chalk will help but without the added smell.

Only other thing I can think of is leaving goop on a long time & washing it off with purple shampoo.

Will try that as well although I won't hold my breath that he doesn't become a black & purple cat instead, that could set a new colour trend in the show world.
I feel a bit sorry for him as he wasn't really bought to be a show cat his brother was but hubby is so proud of him {first time he has ever chosen an animal for himself } that I feel we have to do our best & give him whatever chance we can. There was another black & white boy in the litter & the breeder tried to get hubby to change his mind & have that one as he was a far superior show cat & the new owners of that one don't have the problems that I do,typical,,but we do have the more of a luv bug out of the two b & ws & at the end of the day they are pets firstly & I would rather that & carry on crying at showtime baths.

Well, that's what his main role in your life is after all! I've been lucky with my girl as I didn't intend on showing her but tried it out & she has done very well. She is my baby girl first & foremost & the minute I think she may hate it is when we call it a day.

    Getting white socks white

We have cracked it,now wearing sun glasses if we follow Wellynton Boots down the hall....
Last night dreading having to do his white bits today daughter came up with the idea of using baking soda & white vinegar, she used trusty google & sure enough someone had been there & done it .
This afternoon out came the items, warm water at the ready, baking soda into dish add white vinegar at which point daughter said volcanic eruption about to happen, being dippy I thought she meant the one in Iceland,a very clean kitchen sink later & starting over again, well basic science is a long while ago for me,we had the concoction mixed & ready to go,dipped his paws in it rubbed it all up his boots on his back legs until all his white bits were really wet, then added neat purple shampoo, kept him occupied for 5 minutes to give it all a chance to work, then showered as usual, great results they are gleaming & with a lot less fuss. Will be very proud to take him along to the show this Saturday....
