Aside from the frozen stuff Dave mentioned, the only place I've found local to me (Surrey) is my local butcher. They don't carry it as regular stock, but they can order in when I want to try my two on it. Might be worth hunting down your local butcher and giving them a try.

Thanks Dave, I'll have a scout around tomorrow as I'm due a trip there.

Karen - you're only one county away from us, we're in Hampshire! Will check out our local butcher - only about one left here now - stupid question I know, but what do you ask for - pet mince? Have visions of them looking at me as if I'm mad :-D

Just found these two websites if they're any help ...

Real, Raw, Organic Cat Food Supplier - Darling's Cats - looks worth further investigation
Rabbit Pet Meat - not the cheapest but if your kitties had a preference for mince with the taste of fur!

Looks like there's definitely a gap in the market here - might just have to head into the woods at midnight armed with a meat cleaver and set up a new money making venture ... then again on second thoughts lol!!!

I use woldsway and the quality is superb.

Mine have rc biccie morning and night and one 500g portion of the rabbit meat gets split into 2 meals between 4 of my lot.

I also give whole raw chicken wings and beef steak chunks too

I notice that quite a few people feed raw chicken. I thought you weren't supposed to feed raw meat (because of bacteria?) and certainly not raw chicken on the bone (because they can choke on it?)
    Am I missing something?

I thought the same thing too at first. But reading up on it a cat's digestive system can apparently tackle any bacteria that may be present in raw meat - apart from pork I believe. Re the bones in chicken, OK in raw as the bones are still quite soft, it's when boned chicken is cooked that the bones become dry and brittle and any splinters could cause problems with choking - especially if microwaved as the food cooks from inside out. Hope this helps :o)

Not a stupid question! I'm lucky, our local butcher's are lovely guys and cannot do enough for their customers, so they were great. I just explained that I was looking to try my cats on raw minced rabbit and did they stock it. They said that they didn't but could order it in and that I had to choices: minced whole rabbit, but it wouldn't contain just meat (but bone, fur, skin etc), or 6 minced rabbit legs, which provided a higher meat content.

I haven't ordered any yet but intend to do so. Might check out the two sites you found first, and this woldsway.

Thanks Karen, I will enquire at our local butchers this week. Just stocked up on Natures Menu cat food at PAH so hopefully the higher meat content will sate their ravenous appetites a bit more than usual!

Was about to order via woldsway to give it a try but decided against it when I saw the £7 delivery charge.. seems a bit steep.. Anyone know if there are any other companies that stock their products?
