    Regular, daily, vomit

Been seeing a little vomit once a day in the house for the last 4 days, not much and containing some dry food. Caught Dicky doing it in the kitchen yesterday, poor thing looked so embarassed. He also coughed up quite a bit of fuzzy white froth afterwards but then was fine, went to drink some water and got on with it. Weighed him yesterday - but at "wrong" time of day and he lost a little weight. Weighed him again this morning after breakfast and he is still putting on weight week-on-week.

Otherthing is that the contents of the little puddles seems to be the same, Orijen chicken, from a guess. I think I will take this up now.

Any ideas what else to be careful of ? I can take him to the vets this week as I am off, but he is eating normally, playful and all the usual.

Hmm. It's continuing, but it's only about once a day and it's not a huge amount. No hairballs I can see, just a small amount of undigested food, maybe even unchewed. Perhaps he is wolfing it down too fast ? There is dry down always and this afternoon's incident was a small amount of Whiskas Kitten wet. Commonality is perhaps some fish ? I have taken up the Orijen which had some of their fish mixed in and the Whiskas was the "Tuna" version.

Suggestions ? I can take him to vets, but otherwise he is fine, static-ish weight, playful and so on.

If he was a baby I'd say that he was just eating too much and chucking up the rest but obviously I really don't know if it's the same in cats! I hope it stops soon

Phones the vets and the nurse on the phone suggested it's probably just a delicate tummy. All dry food up and he's going to be on white fish for the next 24-48 hours while I try to feed the other two boys normally in the other room. Oh, the joy. But on the other hand, lucky I am here else the whole no-dry-food-in-the-day would be confusing for them.

We have had kittens go through phases where they would eat too much dry and then throw some up. Once the dry gets in their stomachs, and obviously especially if they drink water, it expands as it absorbs moisture, and if they ate until they were stuffed, then this can turn out to be too much for their stomachs. I recall both of our boys doing this at certain times. They are particularly likely to throw up if they move around too much after they overeat. We used to find piles of food at the bottom of the stairs, for example. So, I would not worry about this if he looks fine and it doesn't happen too often.

    Thanks.

What actually prompted me to phone vet and I completely forgot to mention in the previous post, was that he has added diarrhoea to this mix just now (I am in to observe this) so it's white fish for the next couple of days and if no improvements then it's a vets visit.

Was going to suggest the same as NCarver, we've often had vomit of excess dry food that's been wolfed down, particularly if they then drink water and it seems to swell the dry food causing it to come back up. With the upset stomach though it does sound as if he could have a particularly sensitive constitution. Hope the white fish works and a vet's visit proves unnecessary.

Peter, sorry, can't add any thing further - NCarver's point makes a lot of sense though. Hope all sorts itself with the white fish, keep us posted.

Note to self: Instead of trying to feed one cat white fish and two others normal food either side of a glass door, why not just give all three cats white fish as a treat anyway ? D'oh! Breakfast was much much simpler than dinner

I bet it was fun trying to seperate them, with two it's not too bad - one in each hand but with three. I bet it took them less time to polish off their dinner than it did to seperate them
