I saw these photos and thought I would share... and maybe the DIY people can tell me the best screws to use for the job... as I want to make one..


I am carperting a couple of walls, in the house, and was putting up some shelves etc in different positions...and radiator bed things to make it interesting for them and then I saw this...



This would be brilliant on the walls....







AS some know I am making my old Ikea furniture for the cats, I have just bought 2 new units... it seems others have the same ideas lol

OMG!! I WANT that staircase play area Mind you possibly not on our stairs, they are a bit high in places, but just on a spare wall.

love the stair play area so cool - and if they are up there then they arent lying on ajoining stairs resulting in staining muscles to get up the stairs

Well the screws need to be long enough (2+ inches) to go through the drywall and into the wall studs.
Don't use drywall screws, they're brittle and could break, use screw designed to hold cabinets to the wall.

The kitty stairs are awesome! But knowing my lot, they'd still occupy the "people" staircase and expect us to use the kitty stairs.

Hi, my walls are concrete... and very hard to screw in to... and I am useless at this... Can you help!!

For concrete/brick walls you need a drill with a hammer attatchement and a masonary drill .
Use rawplugs . In the UK they are colour coded for drill size. you probably want brown and a screw lenght of between one and a half and two inches plus the width of what you are screwing on. Screw size is most likely 8 (UK) or whatever the biggest size goes with the rawplug.This info will be on the pack of rawplugs.
Drill the holes in the stairs first hold against wall and mark the place on the wall (through the holes.TThis is not a one man job.
Mark depth of the rawplug on the drill bit and drill into the wall where marked that much plus a small amount.
Push in rawplug and screw in . You will need quite a few to hold a stairs up and you will need someone to hold the stairs in palce while you do the first few holes.

They make special screws for concrete, one type is "Tapcon Screws"
Tapcon® Concrete Screws- Stainless Steel Concrete Screws for fastening to concrete, brick and block
I don't know what available in your country, but these screws require the use of a "Hammer Drill" to use with the Tapcon Masonry drill bit.
A carpenter/handyman should be able to help you if you're not handy and lack the proper tools.

These look fantastic, but wonder whether you would need a wide staircase for them to safely fit in. Don't think we could accommodate such an amazing cat run, but wish you luck with your installation x
