I bought this Cat tree XL beige: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies
Less than a week later i wake up to piles of sick when i come home from work, and the same again when i wake up in the morning... I witness him coughing up what i thought was a hairball, only to see something dangling from his mouth - i start to pull this piece of, at the time all i could discribe as twine, from his mouth... About 8" of elasticated, clear string...
Over the next 48 hours, he continues to reatch at random intervals - obviously what i dislodged, wasnt completely gone. I took him to the vets this morning, and they put him under and examined his throat = nothing.
They think what ever was down there is gone, and it has just irritated his throat, so have advised soft food till Monday, when they advise another check up.
I originally suspected it was a rope toy, which is made out of bailing twine, yet what i pulled out of him has an elastic quality to it. It hit me this morning, that the material they use to adhear the fluffy material to the MDF is "spray on glue". I believe it was this, that i pulled from his mouth and throat. A stringy length of it, that was a poorely manufactured left over from production.

My boy is still retching, and has throwen up his food again tonight He seems happy enough in himself, eating, drinking, purring, if anything hes almost greatful of the help im trying to give him, being very affectionate towards me, which is not his normal self, as hes quite a "loner" and likes to sit next to me, as opposed to on me.

Fingers crossed hes ok on Monday, as a bit of m thinks they may have missed something whilst examining his throat (as its transparent, thin and tacky) yet theres some hope that hes just made his throat so sore and raw from being sick that its causing this prolonged retching

So just a word of warning, make sure you check and double check the quality of your toys for your kitties.

I have the same cat tree I bought from Ebay.... and you do have to check them... sometimes they have bits left over.....

Thank you for the information and warning... I get new cat trees every year... so I usually buy them from Ebay... as they are half the price so its good to know..

My friend saw this latest one for us on Ebay for me and bought it on a wim... it cost 40 euros... but if Amber and I had been married we would be divorced now.. There are several parts not attached we have 3 shelves and 2 poles left over because it came with no instructions, my friend sent me a photo.. and we did the best of a bad job.... lol... but some of the poles are cut to the wrong size etc etc.... I think the next one I will go to the store!!! lol
