Thread: Could Squid be a Maine Coon?

Squid looks and sounds like a cool cat. Looking at him I would say his face looks more like a BSH and he may well be a MC/BSH cross. But who knows?

He may well be a large amount MC, but without "papers" he is just a giant, handsome and lovely moggy. DNA testing will tell you nothing sadly, since there is no established DNA patterns that say a domestic cat is one breed or another. You could, at a pinch, establish parentage if you had samples of parents DNA - but that isn't the question

Hi, welcome to the forum to you and Squid. He is a handsome devil! Sounds like tons of fun too.

His size and behaviour are MC-like, but that goes for many other breeds and moggies too. His face has some MC traits (particularly the strong muzzle) but his ears are way, way too small for an MC – they’re more like a Persian’s ears.

As Peter says, without pedigree papers there’s no way of knowing about his ancestry. Still, he is a wonderful chappy and I think you are lucky to have found him.

Just wanted to say that he's a fine looking cat no matter his heritage. Agree with the others, there certainly looks to be some Persian in him x
