Hi David that is a very long detailed post....welcome to you all.
There is a special thread on the forum where people who do feed the raw diet have posted help as how to do it successfully. As to the sizes they will end up I always think that is how long is a bit of string, I have two bruvs same litter one is a a good compact looking boy the other is a bloomin great big hulk weighing a lot more but as kittens the then lighter one now weighs heaviest. I think that is the joy of MC's until they are 4ish you just don't know what you will end up with,I luv the look of my long stylish Bruce [who is very light he has never made the 7kg mark] just as much as two of the boys who top out at 10kg.Also it is interesting that you note the different density of their coats another thing very noticable with my two boys one has a very thick flowing coat & the other one if he wasn't so big could pass for a BSH.
I back up Candes request for pictures for "close inspection"please although I think her first comment on that is the right one....

Hello David,
I have a male MC too, Ben! He's 10 months old and 15lbs.
My breeder advised me not to feed my boy and fish what so ever!! Not good for their urinary tract. Be sure you are giving your boys a supplement! Check with your vet.
Best Wishes!

Hi David, welcome on board to you and Sheldon & Sidney
I often think it’s regrettable that many people expect their Coonies to grow huge. In fact 20+ pound Coonies are not the norm, despite the tall tales you read on the internet. There is a very large variety in size and weight, and the 20+ pound ones are at the top end of the scale (pun intended) and as such quite rare. I have met a few of these ‘giants’ in real life. To be honest many of them were just overweight and could do well to lose a pound or two. (Even their owners said so!)
Although I am not at home in the veterinary field, judging by the pics and the growth chart I think your guys are perfectly fine. To me they look like healthy and handsome chappies with good weights and scrumptious coats.
As for their diet, I take it you feed a complete commercial food beside the egg, chicken, ham and tuna. Because on a diet consisting solely of these 4 items your crew wouldn’t look half as good as they do. I do advise you to cut back on the tuna drastically. Fish should only be a tiny part of their diet – more of a snack/treat than anything else.
Food-borne infections are rare in cats – a healthy cat can handle much higher bacterial loads than a human. Only when there is an underlying condition I would err on the safe side and not feed meat or egg raw. Also bear in mind that a high proportion of carbohydrates in the diet can interfere with their ability to cope with germs in raw food. So when you feed large amounts of dry food, or wet food that contains grain, the risk they ‘catch something’ from raw egg or meat can be somewhat higher. This is one of the reasons why I don’t feed dry food, and canned food only sporadically. My Coonies have been on an exclusively raw diet for over a year now without one single issue.
But of course a raw diet does not mean throwing them chicken filet and ham three times a day. The meals should contain meat, bone and organs in the right proportion, and from a number of different animals. As Jackie already pointed out, there is a raw feeding section on this forum where you can learn more.
Looking forward to see more of your lovely brothers-in-fur!Last edited by Antonia; 18th January 2012 at 03:04 PM. Reason: idiom

Hi thanks for the reply,
Yeah I feed them normal cat food. For wet cat food, I feed them tinned Bozita and Butchers Classis. It was getting a bit pricey feeding them just Bozita so I mixed in a bit of Butchers Classic just to fill it up a bit. For dry cat food I feed them Royal Cannin and Orijen.
At the moment I tend to do is feed them 50g of Bozita then 15g of butchers Classic then about 10g of Royal Cannin then 5g or Orijen. They love the Royal Cannin and will eat it by it’s self but, with the Orijen then don’t touch it by it’self. So in toatal, they get 80g meals and there sitting about 6 to 7kg at the moment.
I fed them about 3 to 4 times a day. They have 2 big meals a day with the above. They have a smaller meal witch tends to be the tunna meal. They will have about 30g of tunnal with some Royal Cannin with Orijen and then that’s when I give them raw egg with just the yoke. Sometimes I’ll put a bit of ham in it for them.
For a little snak, I’ll mix a wee bit of RK and Orijen maybe with some sort of cat treate like cat meat sticks or something and sometimes with a egg.
I like to fed them Orijen because it’s a good qulity cat food but, I’m thinking in changing there dry cat food to Porta 21 as it’s pretty cheap and has no graines with a high meat content and can get about 20gk for £57 which is really good!
I didn’t think feeding them tunna would be a problem as I’ve seen 70% tunna cat food in the super markets before and they only get maybe 30g a day.
Thanks for the reply and hope that maybe my reply would help to,
Kind regards,
Dave x

Oh, I thought you meant raw or canned tuna for human consumption.
About canned cat food, or dry cat food, I am not knowledgeable because I no longer feed these foods. But I am sure other members can give you useful advice.
How nice you posted some more pictures. Your guys have such wonderful distinctive faces. Especially Sheldon has the masculine angular features I love in an MC.

hi, yeah the tunna i fed them is for humans but, the tunna i've seen for cats is 70% raw tunna with the other 30% in jelly so i dont think that the human tunna would be too harmful for cats just that the cats tunna has jelly in it.
yeah i love coon with the angular faces with typical coon features like the mame and tipped ears. it's what sperates coons from normal cats. i've seen some of your coons and they have lovely long bushy tails. monto and minnies tales are just gerojus and hope my coons eventually have tails like theirs.
