Ragdolls are lovely. My friend has two and we have taken care of them when she has been away occasionally. They are wonderfully dim creatures (at least hers are
), not terribly energetic, but love a lap and will purr for England even being in the same room as you.
A Coonie will be your best friend. He or she will follow you around the house, try to get involved with whatever you are doing whether you want them to or not, talk to you with engaging little chirrups, play whenever possible, thunder around the house like a herd of elephants, and be soppy and cuddly giants. Not all Coonies are lap cats, they often prefer to sit next to you rather than on you, but they have their moments. They will always love you and unlike some breeds, will genuinely love you back. It is true that once you have been owned by a Maine Coon, there is no going back.
Why not visit a cat show in your area and you can compare the two breeds and chat to the owners?
