Are you cutting his claws regularly? If so, he won't be able to dig into your clothes and climb. Maybe a small, portable scratch mat close to where you are might attract him to scratch there instead of you, and if you spray it with catnip scent, it will be even more attractive. Cheaper than a new pair of jeans every week!

I haven't cut his claws. I thought having several scratching posts I wouldn't need too. I've never cut cats claws before. I will definately try it. Thanks.

I cut claws once every two or three weeks. I would be scratched to shreds if I didn't! Keeping the claws short is also very helpful when bathing!
