Hey mom, there is a hole in my litter box!
Yep, there is definately a hole in there, and water!!!!! omgosh, how fun is that??? I love to play in the water! Needless to say, mom had some clean up after this little adventure

I looked online to buy one, and the first thing my husband said was, "Maine Coons can't use that...you know he's just going to turn around and play in the water afterward!" Apparently Ollie harasses him on the toilet more than me. Is Ginger checking the water every time, or is it an occasional splash here and there?

Yes like most cat mommies, I was rushing my girl along too quickly. I had to go back to the solid ring and next week I will try again. Miss Ginger did play in the water, but she did not quite understand she had to poo in middle. She had a blast getting her feet wet and prancing around in the kitty litter. I will try and watch her as I am pretty sure when she will be doing her "business" haha I can not wait to see her poo on the toilet like a big girl!

We (by this I mean Princess Pokey Toes) are having a hard time transitioning from the red ring to the yellow ring :( Ginger hops up and looks in the hole and plays in the water but will not go on it. I know she has to cause she is in there crying at the ring! I put the red one back and she hops up and does her business. I read about a cardboard method where they put cardboard under the hole and put a much smaller hole in the cardboard and progressively make the hole larger. The theory is the hole in the yellow ring is too big to start with. Anyways I used aluminum instead of cardboard so it is easier to keep clean, crossing my finger and praying to the Gods that this works!

I began litter kwitter with my MC at 6months old, and he started out well but we ran into problems because he loves to DIG DIG DIG in the litter for his poos, so he wouldn't use the shallow tray for anything but wees. I ended up packing it away. I tried the mock toilet design mentioned on relaxedcat.com instead which started out well, but have had to put all toilet training on hold for now as he had some accidents when we went away on holiday (housesitter didn't clean the tray out) and we've had to go back to the old litter tray to get him into good routine again. I still hope to pick it up again one day.

As of today we are back to the red ring, which is the solid one. Ginger put her poo directly in the middle of the ring, now if I could only get her to do it with the ring with the hole. I am very stubborn and will not give up, ok maybe not hahaha

***BEEP BEEP BEEP**** NEWS ALERT! We may have had a potty break through today!!! Whilst I was cleaning Ginger's tray, I put the yellow ring on the toilet. She likes to hang out in the bathroom with me while I work. Who knew a flushing toilet could be so interesting? Anywho, she hopped up and peed just like a big girl! I was ecstatic to say the least! I very calmly gave her praise and kitty treats. I am keeping my paws crossed that this is just the beginning of successful toilet training!!!
