I read somewhere that purring is also a way to placate, and also they purr when they're in pain - but I don't think that's the case here from the look of things - she's just a happy kitty.... you lucky thing!
mine bearly ever purrs, but my Charlotte (RIP) was like Ginger, she purred, and so loud! The next day we got her I remember HO going to the bathroom all groggy in the morning and shouting in a panicky voice "I think Charlotte has a breathing problem" - I ran to him and found her purring her heart out so loud when he was stroking her she was making a kind of little "rrreeeeee!" - he was a dog person, bless him, he'd never heard a cat purr so loud before, and she was only a couple of months old....
(obviously he never lived it down... ) - I miss that, Neevie doesn't purr much, oh well at least we know when she's happy....
