    Sully has arrived home!

We'll, I've just brought my little guy home. He's a bit scared and already tried to fit behind the washing machine. Abigail has had a little hiss at him but no attacking just yet. I'm keeping him in one room and he has his own pyramid bed which he's currently hiding in.
He's even more gorgeous than three weeks ago.

I'm beginning to get a little worried about Sully. He's only eaten about three bites of food since 10am, and only wants to hide in corners and cubby holes at the moment. Bob has been fine with him on their one meeting pictured, and Abby has stayed well out of his way. He hasn't drunk any water yet and seems to be breathing very quickly. I know this is the most traumatic day of his young life so far, but shouldn't he have eaten something by now? It's 15 years since I last had a kitten and the last three were much more outgoing than this straight from the off.
I think I'll sleep on the couch tonight so that I am right here if he needs anything.
Just being overly worried I suppose.

Awww he s so gorgeous! When I got Neevie she made a beeline to a little hole behind the cooker! You know, personally I believe in bullying a new cat into being cuddly... I think I would catch him and kind of keep him in my arms for a while...you know, make him feel safe...? May be even sleep with you? Hope he ll be fine...

It has been a huge day for the poor little fella ... perhaps you could scoop him up and settle down in a chair with him as Alekto suggested? If he doesn't like that you could sit and watch some TV or listen to some music and let him find his own way to your lap? Let us know how you get on please x

He's had a little bit more to eat and is behind the couch again. I think you're both right - pull him out, plonk him on my lap and watch a few movies on Sky. He's been quite happy being cuddled so if I don't move for a good while he'll probably be fine.

Having never had problems with a new kitten coming into the house & straight away playing & eating etc I had a dizzy fit when Ruby didn't fit the bill, hid up,didn't eat for two days, didn't use the tray, the next morning I was ready to pack her off back to my breeder friend but that morning did get her to play with the big furries two of which took over her 24hr care by making sure she was never left alone & the next day it was a case of bring it on feed me first please & as much as you can get in the dish will be fine thank you & as soon as she had used the tray normal life resumed in the household.......
Sully will be fine you will make sure of that & a lot of us have been there & got the T shirt, you just feel so sorry for this little mite that has left mum & siblings don't you but bet you will soon be posting what he is getting up too.....just luv him......xxx

What a handsome kitty Sully is. My Whiskey didn't appear to eat, drink, or even poo in his litter box for the first 3 days that we brought him home. He wasn't shy and did not hide. He played extremely hard and slept just as hard. He would cuddle up to us to sleep as he is the only pet in our home. We worried about him not eating & drinking, but after the three initial days he was just fine.

Good luck with your new fur baby.

Thanks for the encouragement about other kittens not eating for a couple of days. This morning he's a lot more adventurous and is noodling around the two rooms I'm restricting him to initially. Abbie is more scared of him than he is of her - the opposite of what I expected from the Burmese Nowty Cat(tm). Bob is such a laid-back guy that he's let Sully sniff him all over without any sudden moves or anger. God, I'll miss that boy when the liver cancer gets him.
Sully is definitely the new House Champion at Hide and Seek. I'm sure that he can teleport. He wanders into an area and then he's just gone and emerges from the other end of the house ten minutes later. He's discovered cubby holes and hiding places that couldn't possibly hide a cat. Inside the back of my guitar amp was a good one which I only found after 15mins of searching for him and worrying that he'd nipped outside without me noticing when I let another one in or out.
He's just had a wee which is encouraging, eaten another two bites of food and sipped a bit of water. The course of today will hopefully see him settle in, stop hiding so much and start to eat properly.
Thanks folks, I feel much happier about his progress now.
    Mark.
