Well, I bought mine on zooplus.co.uk. They have all different kinds of scratching posts. I'm very happy with the banana leaf. It's a little more expensive than other posts, but it's wide enough for grown up Maine Coons, it's very solid, the cats love it, it looks nice in the living room and it's also very easy to clean. :D

I'm thinking of getting the Alicante, for £49 it certainly seems a bargain. Have you had any first hand experience seeing one of these up close by chance?

I looked at it on the site, and I think it's a bit too small for a Maine Coon (even for 1). The base is only 45x45 cm and 1 grown up Maine Coon needs that space to be able sit or lay down in a comfortable way. But the other shelves look even smaller than the base of the post, so I don't think it would be comfortable enough for the cat. I'm afraid that the post wouldn't last very long, and what I would advise is to buy a post that's a bit more expensive, but with the knowledge that you won't have to replace it any time soon.
So in the end it will be cheaper to spend a little bit more money on it now, cause else it may be that you'll be looking to buy a new post within a year or so... We made the same mistake with the first post we bought. It lasted exactly 1 year... :(
I think that the "Cordoba" has a reasonable price, for example, and it looks more solid than the "Alicante". The Cordoba also has a little hammock, and that is something most cats really love!

Thanks for that, I'll certainly bear that in mind.
