I rang the breeder last night!

Ive been contemplating for about a week now whether to ring the breeder of our kitten, but didnt want to seem like an obssessed mad woman, lol so Ive been putting it off. But finally I rang her last night, basically just to see how the kittens were doing.

She told me that theyre doing great, and getting very mobile everyday, their mom even took them downstairs and when she came home from work the kitties were running around in her living room. They are now 4 and a haf weeks and she confimed a date when we can pick him up which will be on January 27!!!

Also she said she's going to send me some photos next week, so Im so excited!!! :D:D And of course Ill post them as soon as I get them.

How exciting for you i bet you can't wait.

I send weekly photos and updates every week to new owners. A good breeder will not mind you ringing it just shows the breeder that baby kitty is going to a genuine loving home.

I have a 12 week old brown tabby girl she is such a baby dreding putting the tree up !!!!

Yes I can imagine it being very amusing seeing them peeking out of the tree, but once you've had to fish them out for the 100th time I can imagine it quickly becoming tiresome ;-)

Haha, well that was one of the reasons why we wanted a kitten after Xmas, we gathered that this time of year it would be a busy time for us, and basically didnt want to stress the kitten too much in his new home.

I have a 2 year old and he is bad enough with pulling everything down, I dread putting the tree up this year too :(, imagine having a toddler and a kitten to deal with lol. So I think we made a good choice having him in the New Year.

I think its great that you update your new owners weekly about the kittens, I do constantly wonder how they are and what they are up to. I also understand that my kitten is still very young, so theres not much to tell me really, that's why I haven't expected weekly update and pics. But I hope that she updates me more as he grows older. =)

I also think that its a great way of bonding the kittens with the new owners.

There's always something to tell, no matter how young they are! With all our Coonies - and our Oriental Shorthair as well - we also got weekly updates from the catteries. And I very regularly call and mail to get updates on how much they weigh, how naughty they have been, ...

But I also know that we're very lucky that the people from both catteries are very good friends of ours and that we understand each other very well. The people from the cattery where Willow and Indy come from, have become our friends since we got Willow there 3,5 years ago and the people from the cattery where Axxes and Esme come from were friends of ours before they even started their cattery.

So the fun part is, that we also get weekly updates on all the other kittens that are born there, and I go for a visit every time they have kittens to do a “semi professional” photo shoot (since photography is one of my hobbies). We used to visit our kittens several times as well while we were waiting for them. Once they were old enough for people to visit, nobody could stop me! ;)

Don’t worry about being "obsessed", it just shows that you care about the kitten you're expecting and that you're curious about how it's doing. If everything goes as planned, we may have kittens from Esme in the future, and I know that I will want future owners to regularly call or mail me to check on how the kittens are doing, cause that shows that they're really interested. Someone who won't make the time to do that, will never get a kitten from me.
