Last night at about 9pm I was watching TV with my two dogs who were asleep on the floor and Simba lying on the back of the chair near the entrance to the hall. All was peaceful when in walked a strange ginger tabby, small maybe even young cat about a third the size of Simba. I was totally shocked to see it walking in as we have never had a cat come through the cat flap before. Simba looked up when he saw it but didn't otherwise react and the dogs didn't wake up. I got up and Simba followed and the cat ran out of the room back the way he came - he was obviously terrified when he had seen what he had walked into. He made an attempt to go back out the cat flap but I always have it locked going out so Simba can't go out. Finding his way blocked it panicked and started running around the kitchen. By this time my two dogs had walked in to see what the commotion was. I was trying to herd the cat back into the utility room so I could open the door to let it out, but what amazed me was my three, whose reaction dumbfounded me. Maggie and Elsa just stood there watching this poor crazed creature and Simba who was obviously tired decided to lie down on the floor between his two big sisters to watch the action! Eventually I got it where I wanted, it was so terrifed I didn't dare grab hold of it so I just opened the back door and it ran out. I closed the door turned to face my crew, told them action over and we all went back into the living room and settled down again.

I am so surprised at not only Simba's reaction but my two dogs who didn't seem too bothered about the excitement. Do you think they were all a bit sleepy, had they seen this cat around before and knew it, or did they recognise it was young? Also do you think I should lock my cat flap at night now, do you think it will try to come in again?

I would think the poor little thing messed its knickers coming face to face with your crew, they must have all seemed like giants although very well behaved ones of which you must be very proud.I wouldn't think it will return but who is to say it might want a second look or it might tell other cats in the neighborhood to pop in for a peek,I think I would lock it at night just to be safe, I can just imagine you though in PJ's running round the kitchen at 2am & all the furries looking on....Bless.

Blimey. Maybe he's made his way in before - Freyja went balistic the minute she caught a whiff of Wicca, and I always thought she was quite an easy going cat. So perhaps your crew had seen Ginge before? Either way, locking the cat flap might not be a bad idea - if he was to wonder in again they might not all be so docile about it.

Jackie, love the idea of a cat in knickers...

Sounds like an adventure! Mine would not have laid there quietly ...
