No pics of the tree with the cats unfortunately (probably why it's still standing). They both seem to be more interested in gnawing at the two reindeer, the snowman and father christmas than the tree - I think the swaying aspect of the tree 'branches' has paid off! Couple of pics so you can see what the tree looks like as requested - it's clearly not real but most of the baubles were pre-attached so the cats would have to utterly demolish the tree to get them off! Wicca's swatted at one particular purple bauble quite near the bottom but it was a pretty pathetic effort - she clocked the reindeers nose and got distracted by that!

If you're after a really nice Christmas tree, this is not the tree for you. If you're looking for quite a nice Christmas tree, including decorations, that 's been MC proofed, look no further...

Wow... that tree is so obviously OTT fake I think even my hubby the Christmas tree hater could appreciate it... just for the heck of it.
But I'm afraid it's a no go this year... we just had a very nasty roof leak (luckily not as bad as the flood in your place) and the living room is a bit of a mess.
Who knows, perhaps next year.

Having had some experience with the whole water damage thing, you have my heart felt sympathies, especially at this time of year; it's never great having that kind of problem but when you want everything to be perfect for Christmas it puts an extra sting in the tail. We'll be thinking of you guys - hope it's all sorted quickly x

Thanks for you concern, guys.
The leak was in the extension to the living room and caused by two drainpipes which were frozen solid.
We immediately covered everything including the floor with plastic sheets and placed buckets everywhere. Next we tried to get a plumber. No way Jose … they are not allowed to work on a roof when there’s snow, not even a flat roof like ours, because of health & safety.
Thankfully our wonderful neighbour Arie came to the rescue who is very savvy about these things and knew exactly what to do. He and hubby spent hours on the roof in the freezing cold to pry loose the frozen drainpipes and replaced them with short horizontal water shoots.
We have a saying in Holland: “A good neighbour is better than a faraway friend.” That certainly rings true.
By now the drip-drip-drip has stopped. The ceiling looks like a map of an alien planet, but at least it’s dry. And luckily no damage to the floor, furniture and computers… phew!

When the snow is gone we’ll go about having the roof and ceiling repaired. In the meantime I’m wondering how to get a mould of El Monto’s face to make gargoyles for the water shoots.

Oh dear Antonia, I'm sorry to hear of your mishap with frozen pipes, water damage can be very distressing. Still, your neighbour is worth his weight in gold, and it sounds like it could have been a lot worse! Hope you can get on and enjoy the festive season now. And Monty gargoyles - fab idea, could catch on!!! LOL xxx
