Thread: Growling kitten

Personally I would buy another one, but saying that, you might find your growler tries to pick both up at the same time.
My guys have been heard to grumble when they are carrying raw chick wings around, then they throw them in the air catch them before they land ,and so the game goes on, I suppose they are playing out what they would do with prey.

Teddy purrs ridiculously loudly sometimes when he has a toy - I guess it does kind of sound like growling! He does it when he eats too...and when he wants to wake us up.

When he was a kitten Monty had a silver glittery mouse that he'd always growl over once it was in his paws - I thought it was so darn cute! Sadly, he seems to have grown out of it now but it was funny at the time

thanks for all the advice on this ... i must admit i found it funny and cute and wasnt concerned until OH said he didnt like it ... have now ordered some more toys and hopefully ernie will find his growlly toy too!!

Noah has a now almost bald furry mouse which is very definitely his. Out of the two he is normally the most mild mannered, but he will growl if Flo goes near his mousie, he adopted it immediately it came out of the bag and at first she did try to play with it too but was met with such ferocious and possessive growling she now just doesn't bother. It's become Noah's comfort blanket and is carried around, hidden and played with constantly, when it goes missing which it frequently does he fusses constantly until you get down on the floor and hunt it out. The joy when it is found is really cute, he is not aggressive about anything else, so I dont find it worrying or something which needs to be controlled, its just one of the delightful character traits that makes the maine coon such a pleasure to have around.

Welly is our growler & has been known to frighten people with it,feathers are the main cause be it on the end of a play stick or an "ejected"bird one out in the garden,all the others stay back from him because if they get too close the noise he makes deafens you,will admit the first time I heard him I was a bit worried about approaching him but luckily it is all noise no action & he is quite happy to roll over a let you tickle his tum while doing it,adds another dimension to the noise effects though.The one thing we have noticed about Welly is he doesn't purr,was a thread on here once about the lost purr but up until now he has never had one,he talks to you a lot & his voice is so deep that it sounds as if it comes from his "Boots"but no purrs,perhaps one day Wellyntonboots will find it but in the meantime we will make the most of his other sounds.....

None of my boys growl, but Storm is VERY defensive of his food or treats so Storm will snort at Benji first as a warning to back off, and if Benji does try to be cheeky he does let of a quick hiss. Benji doesn't seem to take offence though and happily wonders off and finds something of his own to eat/play with! Benji isn't a major purrer either, it's only on occasion that he does but when he does it's really loud. He isn't chatty though either, he is 5 months and only just heard his first chirrup! Storm on the other hand, very chatty and purry!
