This is the type of thing that I used time out method for on our first girl who was very headstrong,I was lucky because my cats have their own room so she used to get told a very stern no,picked up by her scruff & taken to the room, left in there for a fair while, found it a good idea to rattle a few of the toys she liked to play with so she thought she was missing out on fun as well as your company then when she was let out I always had a play & cuddle & carried on as if nothing had happened, on some occasions relapse happened quite quickly so I just used to repeat, she was known one day to spend most of it as "time out" than in but gradually the episodes decreased without harm to anyone or anything, even got so if she was naughty she would put herself into her room & look at you with a now what expression but it did work very well & wasn't long before a stern no worked, all my others have learnt that the spray bottle means a step too far but you always get the odd exception, you & I have both got {had}one of them.I don't know if you have somewhere you can put Charles for time out even a cat cage where he could have a tray & water in but nothing else & away from you would most probaly work as well but could be worth a try. These animals are not stupid & don't like to miss out on your company so might be worth a try. China RIP was a little angel once she knew she couldn't rule mum....X
