Recommendations for Cat Run makers/installers?

Morning all

We have spent some weeks umming about the best way to allow the coonies out in the garden but keeping them safe. In an ideal world we would love to have Katzecure fencing or similar installed, but the perimeter of our garden is both very long and has lots of mature shrubs and trees which would have to go/be cut right back if the fencing approach were to be effective. Truth is, we are rather fond of our mature garden which offers both a nice outlook, some privacy and to some extent, security [many of these shrubs are 6ft deep, quite a bit for a trespasser to wade through], so we are now considering a custom built enclosure instead.

Here is where the problems start though - neither of us are DIY experts and it would require some skills to do what we want, not just a case of bolting the ready made panels together - so, can any of you recommend either a specific supplier/installer willing to work here on the London/Hertfordshire border, or, have any of you used your own local handyman/carpenter to build you something to your spec and would recommend that route as being a better option? It is a bit frustrating as a few years ago my dad built me a temporary run for a young cat I had and I know he could do the same again for something more permanent if I asked him - these days though, we have both moved and the 240 mile trip to our house though is a bit of a problem and he would have to book holidays from work, etc etc... I am not sure I could cope with the guilt

Anyway, thoughts, options, ideas, all welcome and received with huge thanks!

I bought supplied from Welcome to FeliSafe Secure Cat Fence Systems and some chicken wire for the ground level from DIY supplier. Lots fo work, but worth it.

Like I said in the thread above - WATCH OUT FOR SQUIRRELS if you use nylon netting. Little buggers.

My brother is a painter/decorator/carpenter/diy man - just about everything, and getting to the point, he has built me the most amazing cat run, we did the plans together and he just built it, so if you find a local handyman/carpenter they will be able to build one to your specifications using everything from good old b&q's. I looked up photos of other peoples catruns as ideas and went from there.

Best thing I ever did, my cats bash the catflap down to get out in the morning!!!

We got ours from Bay Animal Housing , I think they have changed their name to pet pens 4 u . Brilliant service and all delivered on pallets with everything needed to make up the run , just had to add shelving etc inside ourselves.

Thanks guys, that other forum thread has some fab links Peter, lots of ideas and I think getting a local handyman to do what I want is probably the best idea. Apart from anything else, it will involve building on an existing narrow paved area but also up and over an 15" high wall and on the raised grass area [which will be gravelled or something as I dont fancy mowing inside it] and possibly incorporate a tree as well passing through it [branches start higher up trunk than roof] so a bit of customisation required

I have just had a really bad experience with petpens4u. Faulty goods and missing parts. Promised partial refund. Still not received weeks later in case of missing fixtures. I think this firm is ok if it runs smoothly. But, they have wasted hours of my time and I'm still down £68
