From what I have read the only "repairable" things are the pelvis and putting back dislocated (luxated?) bones. If it's a fracture then it seems it's painkillers and time - and then hope it all comes back. :(

Sigh.
Didn't know that they done a three day course of metacam so perhaps he is going to be given something else, even if tail is broken it is normally a case of time for it to heal if causing no problems, could be cage rest depending,if it is broken & causing problems then it is amputation anyway....Think this could be a case of trying to see an older vet if return trip does become necessary,I wouldn't want any of mine to be put under sedation/anaesthetic unless there was a good reason for it,lets hope the "three days worth" works.....!

No, no... I demanded a course of Metacam Oral (which I am picking up tonight) based on the comments here and what else I read online as the poor little tiger is getting more energised but is still uncomfortable. The receptionist claimed that the injection lasts 3 days - which is untrue if you read the documentation - half life of 15 hours in cats - so after 30 hours it's only 25% effective or less. The woman vet is very much a professional and was not the one that examined him last week and she was just wanting more info.

Ah ha,makes more sense now,if Metacam lasted three days we wouldn't be telling our clients to start off on the oral the following day,inj is obviously better to kick start as it works quicker, that sounds like a receptionist who should either learn more or keep quiet as they say,I do hope it works, can't see why it shouldn't if the inj helped poor little man shouldn't have to be uncomfortable,Bruce has just jumped up beside me & he says he calls it magic potion & if I had told him earlier he would have given it up to a MC friend....x

Well, that was easy. Not only are all three maniacs as I come home - full energy all round - but Dicky takes his Metacam like it's tuna!

Also, his tail was ever so slightly more mobile even if hanging down and when I lightly ran my hand down over the head of the tail no pulling away or pain reaction. Dad's a happy dad. Will be happier if and when the flag pole is pointing at the sky

I will have a bet on its an improvement by tomorrow, starting to fly on Wednesday & fingers crossed full mast by end of week, tell Dicky not to let me down, also very proud of him taking his medicine so easily,it is always harder trying to convince the owners its easy then it is getting the animals to take it....!

A slightly horizontal tail when running next to me to get breakfast. Still limp, but playful and not miserable. Metacam and rest are working. Hope after three days of drugs he will be well enough in himself to come off it without a fallback.

One more update before you're all bored. Got home, three happy kittehs again and this time Dicky is not dragging his tail and when putting dinner down the end was even curled slightly up while the main part was horizontal - and this is 24 hours after the first Metacam.

I feel so much lighter now, knowing that he should with time get better and better.

Saldy, a friend has learnt the worst news about one of her beloved cats. So, my joy is a little tempered there.
