I think it's the winter weather - ours are the same. Also get static shocks when we stroke them - if you touch their noses it makes them jump (not that I do it on purpose of course
)

You can get anti-static sprays designed specifically for grooming cats, they also help to condition the coat. They do tend to be a bit pricey, but if your cat loves to be groomed as much as mine, then it's nice to be a bit indulgent sometimes!
Added bonus is the nice fragrance they can leave behind!
