I have noticed with mine they slow up in the growth rate at about the 18mths of age but they do still continue to grow as well as mature up until they are around the four years of age,just when you think thats it they will surprise you,come on Dexter don't let me down....x

Thanks for that! Ive found it so exciting watching him grow and change already, he's now overtaken Saffi although she still remains the boss lol! Even down to the way he walks, they are almost like watching a mini lion! Saffi kind of trotts around on her little paws but he seems to have a swagger lol! The muscles in there legs, ive never seen in any other domestic cats. I grew up with siamese, with their quirky characters and slight builds.....sooo different to Mcs, im definatley converted. : )

We recently got new neighbours - expats from the Philippines. They were used to seeing only tiny slender oriental-type cats. You can imagine their amazement when they first met our Coonies. When they saw El Monto they went: "Wow! He is like a doggie!"

Its funny cause when people visit I dont think they belive me when I say hes going to get bigger as hes already taller than my 2 year old....I hope he does prove me right, it'll be funny to see their reaction when they visit after a few months ; )
Love looking at all your gorgeous kitties : ) I can look at pics of MCs for hours if i had the time.. my husband calls me mad cat lady!

I'm in your position Leta, can't believe my 15 month old can really grow any further, but having seen four properly mature MCs courtesy of Jackie I have to concur she's right. Kitten my MC is small compared to hers. He still has a long way to go. Hope you enjoy watching Dexter grow too x

Their growth rate IS fun to watch. We have had Ella from 5 mths old and in that time she started by getting noticably longer, then got noticably taller, and is now 10mths old and seems to be having a little rest and a fur change. She looks very scrotty atm having had a full blown moult but its already growing back. We got 2 more this week that are a year old and even bigger and expect them to slowly but surely get bigger too.

He will keep growing!!

Silver is just over 6 months old now and is already bigger than almost all the local cats . If he carries on growing at the same rate untill he is 18 months and then fills out I fear for the local dog population .

MC Elvis turned 4 recently and he still seems to be getting longer.

His body hasn't caught up to his skeleton yet, though.

In spite of probably only having at most 10 minutes of his entire life without food in the bowl he's still mostly hair and bones.

It freaks me out a bit to still be able to feel his ribs and spine, although he seems to be putting some muscle on his legs.

The vet says he's OK, and I have no reason to doubt it.

I suppose that it's better than having him weigh in at 35 lbs or something.
