Thread: Kitten registration

I've been reading about Maine Coons for a while now after my fiancee told me she wants one. I have been able to come up with information on pretty much everything about Maine Coons and purebred cat ownership, except for registration of kittens.

My fiancee doesn't think we should fill out the registration once we find and purchase our Maine Coons. From what I can come up with, it's less than $25 per kitten to register with the proper fancier's association, I figure why not. What are the advantages to registering them? We won't be getting kittens for showing or breeding, just pet quality kittens. On the flipside, are there disadvantages to not registering them? Thanks in advance.
