I have 3 indoor cats too and alliances do shift about. Having said that, the smallest one tends to end up being chased most often - sometimes she seems to encourage it and sometimes I think the others go too far.
When we're having a spell of Sophie being the undercat I have a strategy that seems to work for us - for a while anyway. when they're having their wet food, I feed Sophie first and sit with her for a minute or two - fending the others off while she eats. She seems to welcome this and the others back off once they get the idea. I also greet her and make a big fuss of her when I go into a room before I even acknowledge the other two.
After a few days of this her status seems to go up and the others are more respectful. I have to admit I first saw this approach on the Dog Whisperer and it may not work for all cats but it's maybe worth a try.Visit us at www.longwalkclark.co.uk
