    It sounds like a good idea, but you'll need a lot more than 10 meters. I don't know the dimensions of the pillar but you'll probably only get a few centimeters up that pillar with 10 meters.

    I'm going to convert to my native numeric system for ease. My guess is that the pillar is a lot wider than 12 inches, but if we assume it's 12 inches, that's 2*3.14*6 (2pi*r), 37.7 inches circumference. 10 meters is 32.8 feet, or 393.6 inches, divide that by 37.7 inches, you get 10 turns around the pillar. 10 mm is .4 inches, 10*.4 is 4 inches up the pillar. I'd find a supplier of a spool of sisal rope, here's one in the US SISAL*ROPE*SISAL*ROPE*SISAL*ROPE*SISAL*ROPE*SISAL* ROPE you should be able to find a supplier in the UK, but you'll need a lot of rope.
