    All the fur

Hi guys I was wondering how bad does Maine Coons hair float and fly around in the air? I was thinking that because they tend to have oily hair it might not blow around, like say persians' hair does.

Not sure there's a set answer to this as I have two MCs and they're both different. Beau has very thick fur that can get greasy in the summer - his doesn't float around much at all. Dixie, on the other hand, has very fine hair and in summer she wanders around the house like a fur cloud lol.

We've got two, and I haven't seen any hair floating around at all. We comb them daily, as the breeder suggested, but not a lot of hair comes out in the comb. They tend to get greasy on the belly, but not elsewhere.

We don't normally have any hairy evidence we have cats until Sidney decides to moult. Then the whole hose is covered in pale grey fluff, it is everywhere.
I bear it for about 30s then out comes the FURMINATOR and I strip out the whole undercoat in one go - takes about 2 hours and quite a lot of cat treats, and Sidney goes from being a pale grey powderpuff to a slinky grey/black mackerel tabby who isn't sicking up any more hairballs!

Now we have Ava too, she hasn't got a full coat yet but she gets hairballs because she insists on eating any hair I comb off Sidney, she fights like a tiger to get to it...
Sid is partial to matting, last year he went from a couple of small armpit clumps to full body-armour in 2 days and had his belly shaved - took ages to grow back and he looked like a raw pork sausage. I'm trying to keep on top of the little mats as they arrive, but does anyone know if it's safe to use something like Argan oil on cats? It stops my fine hair matting, so I was just wondering...
