"She has had a haircut. It's growing back already!
Now she's lost a clump of tail fur due to getting slugs caught up in the fluff. Sidney is as bad, he came in stripes the other night with slug-trails!"
Hello Weasel,
Wow, your Coons really do get into 'stuff'!! I let Smokey go outdoors in his walking jacket and on a retractable 20' leash. That way, I can keep him out of the stickers and other stuff that would love to entangle in his long fine hair. He has never minded the jacket or leash at all. He is a 'City Cat' still even though he has lived in the foothills of Central California for over 6 years now. He wouldn't know how to avoid being eaten or carried off by Great Horned Owls or many other predators that are all around us. Simon, our Blue Point, on the other hand is also a 15 pound cat and much more country savvy, stays very close to me when I let him go outside - in the daytime. Since we do have large Great Horned Owls, Golden Eagles, Hawks, and many ground predators just out of sight for the most part, I guard him for the 1/2 hour or so that he wants to be outside with a 12 Ga shotgun close by mainly to scare the critters off! My neighbor has seen a couple of Cougars and about a 200 lb Bear in the hills right behind our homes recently. We have packs of Coyotes all around us also. Probably not the best place for cat lovers to live, but it is what it is and we love living here.
Weasel, where do you live and what is your 'first' name?
Take care, Clyde
