My breeder uses Duck and Goose Starter Crumb, and as Freyja seems to like it I've carried on using it. Not always that easy to get hold of so in emergencies I use Chick Starter Crumb instead. It clumps well, and as it's organic it doesn't matter if she decides to lick it/ eat it. However, on the rare occasion she stepped in the brown stuff, the crumb would stick to her paws too, so probably won't help your situation.
Out of interest, how big is your litter tray? Freyja used to be a mare for stepping in her deposits and NCarver suggested a bigger tray - I've now got one that she almost needs to pole-vault to get into, so it's nice and deep. Since she started using that, she's not stepped in anything unpleasant (just gets it stuck to her pantaloons instead! still, you can't have it all...).
