Chris, alcohol doesn't stay, but the effect of alcohol on the liver can be detected for up to 2 weeks and also the hair follicles - it's not the alcohol that is detected, it is the health of the liver and some agents produced by the hair follicles that will tell you if a person has had alcohol up to 2 weeks after... A while back, after a really heavy party, we calculated that we weren't safe before 2 days!!! 48 hours!! but that was really a few years ago, we've slowed down a LOT ;-)
Donna, yeah actally we do it the next day - usually we have our parties at home or at friends - so we know how much alcohol we have in the house, and if in doubt the next day we look at the number of empty bottles in the kitchen, we kind of divide by the number of guests, and then we assume that Husband has had a little bit more - because he tends to ;-) ... It's rare when we go drink "on the town", and when we do we keep it rather tame - a couple of beers maximum...
we do have a whole policy around that at home - we are terrified to cause injury while out of control - it never happened to us, so I don't know why both of us are like that, but really it does border on paranoia!

That is great, when I was younger we would have our friends out to our place to party and everyone would spend the night. On Saturday morning I would make a huge breakfast and feed everyone before they went home. My daughter grew up having our friends over and called them all Aunt and Uncle. I remember when she was old enough to realize that "hey that's not my uncle!" hahaha She has 2 spare bedrooms in her house and is following the tradition. I would rather feed them the next day then have them kill themselves on the way home.
