    Does your cat do this?

I wonder if my Ariella has obsessive-compulsive disorder or there are some other cats who do the same ritual.

She begs to get brushed 13-16 times a day. It starts early in the morning after we finish breakfast when we hear a loud "Mrrraauh" many times
until my husband grabs the brush and grooms her very thoroughly. She keeps harassing him during the day, and again, he always
fulfills her demands. It seems like being brushed is one of her essential needs, just like playing, eating or sleeping. Upon each return from a trip
we have to make up for missed grooming sessions by increasing the frequency, length or both.
Her sister also does not mind being brushed, but no obsession there. I even took Ariella to the vet who found her skin and hair to be in perfect condition,
    with all normal labs.

I wish Kenny would beg to be brushed - he really doesn't like it so it's a job to keep it under control.

I do find he has certain rituals he likes to do, like every morning he has to come up and "tunnel" under the bed covers, once he has made sure there are no crumbs left on the toast plate. He is very persistent when he decided he wants to do something, like open my drawer to get my nail files out to play with!

Sadly no, my two are totally unpredictable in every single area of their lives, apart from they both always run like hell when catching sight of a brush! Every time we start to get used to a particular pattern of behaviour they either stop doing it or swop over eg. Flo's the one who sleeps on the end of our bed, then - no wait, that's Noah and there's no sign of Flo and so on!

I can only envy you Halcyon, with your Ariella's brush fixation. I have a real battle on with Monty - I have to tread very carefully when it comes to brushing him and I don't even attempt it unless he's fast asleep. Larry is much better but even so he's getting more impatient with me now that his fur is so much thicker and prone to mats. I have to engage in mind games with the felines to get anywhere, and as you all know, that isn't going to be very far! LOL! x

Thank you for your responses. Now I know she has OCD. Surprisingly, her hair and skin looks great and no visible loss.
My poor husband thinks he brushes Ariella at least 20 times a day.
I also think that most of your cats are boys and they don't care about bad hair days.
We will continue indulging her with full body massage by a very fine brush.
