I tried the throwing a toy and he brings it back but never wants to give it to me and then wonders off somewhere else. I also have some treats for when he does bring it back, but at the moment he doesnt seem interested. *sigh* Ive heard of the 'clicker' training, so I might look into that. Though its not really that important that he does tricks, it's just nice to be able to show ppl that I have one cool coonie! Lol

I have seen Maine Coon's on youtube playing fetch - I'd love to teach Simba this. My dogs love it! Maybe I will get him to watch them. One trick he does do though - he seems to manage to get into the smallest of places. The other day I had an opened tissue box on the table and I caught Simba trying to get inside. He only managed to get his front end in and the rest of him hung out onto the table - but he seemed happy and went to sleep

Not a trick as such, but I have a plastic tub 1/2 full of treats. When I want to them to come to me / move them from room to room (ie: we're bringing in shopping or something), then I shake the tub whilst shouting "Storvenn".. Loki!" in an excited voice.
Usually both arrive at 110 mph.
They then get a couple of treats from the tub.

I wont claim credit for it, as the breeder we bought them from did this.

Main use for me, is IF they ever got out of the house. I can hopefully... call them back to me without resorting to chasing them down the road.

Havent done any training due to Lokis diet needs. I had to rule out kitty treats as being cause of her upset stomach. Would love to teach them.. "Dont chew through the audio cables" & "dont bite me on the arm to wake me up" though.

Great idea - what treats do you use? I haven't bought any cat treats yet. He has already learnt when we are eating though and sits on the table waiting for a piece of our dinner! I think teaching them to come when called though is important. Simba ignores me at the moment unless he thinks I'm getting his food

They are Whiskers ones, and I think they are Temptations. Funny little star shaped nibbles which they love. RiaBoo posted a thread where they were giving vouchers for a free pack, just had a look for it but cant seem to find it. Did a search for "coupon" & "whiskers".

That's one I would like to teach Gryfn... to come when called. I'm certain he will get outside as the kids are bound to leave the door open at some stage....
