My 3 will all have a go on my lap so I suppose they are all lap cats. Larry doesn't stay on for long simply because he is too big. He needs 2 legs and an arm to lie on, at least! We don't have a sofa but if we did then he could spread out a bit. Monty and Herbie are the bed bugs - Herb likes burrowing under the duvet, and Monty likes to get in my face and give me a good lick!

@Luisa: I have heard, that male cats are more cuddly, too. But I cannot confirm that absolutely.
What I can confirm is, that MC-cats are no lap cats. And that female cats are little divas. Especially our domestic cat Puma. On the other side, she loves men. As soon as we have male visitors, she will sit next to him on the sofa to get a massage. At night, she will lay beneath my partners head. But Puma never would jump onto ones lap!
What I also can confirm: when the cats - especially the coonies - are chasing throught the flat, it sounds like a herd of elephants

Storm not so much a lap cat as much as a "I'm-going-to-lie-on-your-chest-or-face-cat", Benji only when it suits him. Storm I can pick up and pop in my lap and he gladly just purrs away

My three never were lap cats until they've got older. Mitch half lies over one knee when I'm sat on the sofa. He's on it now and my leg's going to sleep as he's been there about an hour whilst I've been on the PC.
Keeps will only come and sit on your knee if you're sat in the garden or sat on the toilet.
Ally isn't a lap cat but likes to lie on anything else.
Pip, the Border Collie, has been known to try and sit on your knee but he is really too big for that.www.joannes-petportraits.co.uk

Kenny isn't a lap cat as such. He doesn't jump up and sit on you when you are seated on a chair, but he does love to sprawl across you if you're lying on the settee. Eric on the other hand will happily sit on my lap for an hour at a time, apparently something he never did with his previous owner. Lately he likes to sit along the back of my chair with his tail curled round my neck!

My girl isn't a lapcat, she does like to lie on your feet though lol!
My boy though is a total snugglebug, he would be happy if you carried him like a baby all day every day!

Maisie is not a lap cat but needs to sit next to me . She follows me everywhere and will go around the house/garden mewing until she finds me. At night she sleeps next to my pillow. But she has never found her purr machine!
