Thread: Why is my baby trembling/twitching when resting or falling asleep?

Lots of cats especially babes quiver / tremble while they are asleep,seems to be a natural body reaction to all that fun they have just had,if babe is well & eating I wouldn't worry just enjoy,also at a young age if you get in close they are actually silent purring....xxx

Yep it happens a lot, in fact we say they are "chasing flies" when they do it. It's usually accompanied by their little legs twitching like they are chasing something.

Yes we noticed it everytime Bailey went to sleep. Now he is older we sometimes notice him doing it but know where as much.
We think its his dreams.

It was about a year ago that I posted a similar question. We got Whiskey when he was 14 weeks old. Whiskey would tremble as though he was freezing cold or scared to death. We too had him checked out by the vet. Nothing was wrong with his health. Whiskey trembled for months while falling asleep & while sleeping. From this site, I found out that apparently it is normal for some to shiver & shake as they drift off to sleep & while they sleep. I figure it must be their little muscles contracting from all that kitty playing. Whiskey is 1.5 yrs old now, and thanks to your email reminding me, just realized he hasn't trembled in months. So I guess they do grow out of it. Best wishes to many furry & healthy years with your Peshaki.

That is such a relief to hear!! I'm soo happy it's just a common kitten reaction, I really had thought the vets must have missed something. Thank you all of you wonderful people for responding.

Went searchin on the internet earlier after seeing basil do this since we got him. Glad to see its just another kitten / mc trait. Vets counldt find anything either.
