    Unsightly cardboard box trick !!

Well I thought I had totally kitten proofed !! Oh I couldnt have been more wrong !! Frazer, the little doll that he is found my weak spot ! Hadnt even thought of it myself !

To let you understand I have an old cast iron fire place with the gas lighter you know the kind it looks like a real fire but the coals are imitation and its gas but looks so realistic when it is on ! Well the weather is hot isnt it ! and the fire wont be on for ages ! So Frazer, being Scott of the Antartic decided to climb into said fire and go up the chimney !!!! Oh he did ! You have never seen anyone move so fast in all you life ! I just managed to catch his back leg before he disappeared right up the chimney ! Naughty boy Frazer !! No you dont go up there !! So my lovely tiled, cast iron fireplace now has a cardboad box blocking it of !!!! Now what I need to find is a heavy duty fireguard ! Any suggestions where I can get one people !!!

Stop laughing it wasnt funny !!! lol

It very was lucky you were there! We also had various cardboard 'decorations' spread around the house for the first month or so!! But it was our old boy Tigs who managed somehow to get behind the fire (something he'd never done before!) meaning that some of it had to be knocked out! If it hadn't of been for Marco, Finn & Tess telling me that he was in there heaven knows what would have happened ...

Re fireguard - I remember (in the olden days!!) that we had a heavy duty fireguard that folded into 3 when not in use ... but it also had a detachable 'roof' which you could either lean against the fireplace or attach to the ends ... maybe you could find something like that at a car boot fair? Have you tried google yet?

Good Luck ... bet that Frazer finds another little hidey hole that Mum forgot about x

Just a word of warning but I know some cats love tearing cardboard boxes to bits, the 2 cats I am fostering at the moment are destroying the 2 i have out for them!!! Not sure if MC's go for this though but just so u know lol.

We not only had the lovely cardboard barriers throughout the house but also foil covering the top of the backs and seats of the dining room chairs. They liked to climb them. I knew I should have covered them but I didn't do it until after a chair went over during a rowdy game of chase. I don't know how two 15 week old kittens managed enough speed to tip the chair over - they are quite heavy. The back of the very expensive and out of production chair snapped leaving seating for 7!!! Thankfully Buzz and Baxter were OK! They actually seemed pleased with themselves. Happily, a furniture repair man was able to put the chair back together. Oh Chris, you are in for so much fun!!!

As for the fireguard think I will go to some boot fairs and auctions to see if I can pick an old fashioned heavy one up from somewhere and preferably screw it to the fireplace !!! lol
