Hi there, wow so you've picked out a new kitten, lucky you, how exciting!
I insured my 2 with PetPlan. I did some research and asked my vet's chief nurse for advice, and she recommended 2 companies, PetPlan being one of them (can't remember the other). She said it was good cover and they were quick and efficient when it comes to paying out. It also turned out that I got the best quote from PetPlan - £13/month per kitten. PetPlan will cover for hereditary illnesses, should one come to light, which the other companies I contacted would not.
Very curious who your breeder is - don't think it's the same as mine, as I'm pretty sure she's not on this forum...but I could be wrong!!

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll do some shopping around. I went on GoCompare but it doesn't have the insurers you have mentioned, so tomorrow i'll call a few people. I have heard good things about petplan, so i'll be grilling the other companies a little. I'll post what I find out if anyone is interested?
As for the kitten we visited, he's gorgeous! I do want to tell you, but I'm also wondering if any of you can guess?! He's a popular colour with you folk on here and he's similar (but not identical) to his dad. Maybe with a bit of sleuthing, someone can work it out!!!
So excited now! I cant thank his breeder enough, she has been great with everything and I would highly recommend her to anyone. Thank you!
Maybe I should just say....!!!

We used to be with Petplan but now we use Saga as they appear to be a lot cheaper and give us the same cover.

We took on the pet for life plan from PetPlan and all i can say is that im glad we did, we've been to the vets a lot with Schrödinger's regarding his runny poopoo'laroo and he's currently going through his second round of fecal tests, i reckon with past tests, consultations, bloods, , etc its totalled up over £400 so im VERY glad we had cover.

I did quite a bit of research on this when we obtained our two and in the end opted for LV Pet Insurance's Premier policy. It has a £5K per condition benefit with no time limit providing you stay insured with them. Gracie's policy is £7.50 a month and Monty's is £8.50 a month and the reviews on them were pretty good too.
UK call centre too which is a bonus!
Good luck with whatever you decide

working in a finance office of a vets all i will say is read the small print very carefully - check whether per condition , per year , life cover per condition...unfortunately alot of people get bitten once they try to claim...I would also ask how long it is taking them to pay out at the moment as I know one very large company that is taking 8 weeks to reimburse !!!

More insurers to haggle with! I've had a topsy-turvy day, starting with my partners PhD graduation (which was nice!) and finishing with taking her grandmother to A&E (not nice). So pet insurance has to wait till tomorrow.
Howlinbob, a black smoke?! Whatever gives you that idea?!
Want any more clues?!

I'm in the US and we have Pet Plan. We had a claim when our prior kitten was diagnosed with FIP and had to be put to sleep after appx $1300 worth of tests. Pet Plan paid the entire claim minus the deductible and they reimbursed what I paid for the kitten because I had the gold coverage. They were excellent to deal with and I recommend them. I haven't had to submit any claims for our 2 yr old Birman. We now have a MC kitten and I insured him with Pet Plan too.

These people sound too good to be true: VetsMediCover - VetsMediCover Homepage
Anyone have any real world experience ?
They offer cover for £14/month for any cat, and postcode. Incuding dental care as long as the cat has annual checkups and required treatment is carried out.
I am very tempted, with 3 cats, to set up a saving account and just put a fixed amount into it every month as my own "insurance". Especially, given my current circumstances, I am lucky enough to be able to cover any level of treatment out of savings anyway. They do say insurance is only worth having if you can't afford it.
