    Sweaty Kitten?

    Hi all,

I have a beautiful 6 month old black smoke, who is amazing :-) She loves playing fetch with a variety of balls and anything that you can shape into a ball. Her current favourite is a sheet of kitchen towel rolled up!

Anyway, I've noticed that after playing fetch for about 15 minutes, the fur behind her ears, just at the base, is damp and it looks like she's sweating. I can't find anything online that says cats sweat from anywhere other than paws.

    Anyone have any thoughts?!

    Thanks!

    Sweaty kitten ?

Yep Elismom the pads are the only place for heat to escape from our furries that is why there is always such a big campaign about not keeping animals in parked cars, not only when it is really hot but any sun can soon heat the inside of a vehicle & as an animal can't sweat from pores over the body like us the heat builds up from inside out, acts like a microwave,it can happen very quickly & having seen the consequences of it am only too pleased that the police are very happy to act quicker nowadays & break in to hopefully get the animals out in time.
Moshis mum I haven't noticed any of mine being noticebly damp but they do seem to be more warm & slightly tacky there after playing fetch, the fur at that point is thinner & finer so perhaps that is the reason why, might pay to just stop her game at the point she starts showing signs,15 minutes straight off is quite intense for a babe, which is all she is although the size they are at that age makes you forget that !
Back up from here to what Elsimom posted, would love to see some pictures of her....

As requested, I've posted some piccies of Moshi - for those that are interested, Moshi is Swahili for smoke :-)

15 minutes is when I stop as I get bored throwing the ball so much! She could go on for hours, if I let her!

Welcome, Moshi and Moshi's mum. Love the name, and she's just gorgeous; I've got a black smoke girl and have been rubbish at getting a really good photo of her, so I'm v jealous that you've managed it with Moshi!! Love her ear tufts, too.

Thanks Karen Wicca is beautiful! I'm wondering if Moshi will lose her stripes soon, she gets darker every day. One of my friends thinks she looks like a were-cat with her white tufts. She's also got two white whiskers, which I call her Fu-man-chu whiskers lol. She's a camera hog, so that's how I've got the pics of her. A true poser

Thanks JCK. She sleeps on her back next to me in bed! I swear she's part cat, part dog and part human!

That's one of the best descriptions I've heard for an MC...!

Lol I look at some of the descriptions on various websites and then look at Moshi and she just doesn't seem like an MC sometimes. She is very affectionate and a definite lap cat. When she can't lie on my lap, she lies next to me and has to be touching me, even when we go to bed! She's always got at least a paw on my arm. At night, she literally wraps herself around my arm and falls straight to sleep, with a front and back paw over and under my arm and her head on my hand. Are they really not affectionate as a rule??
