Thread: ideal carrier dimensions for fully grown puss

Buddy has a small dog carrier. Just measured it and its roughly 100cm x 50cm x 50cm. He can lay down in it and move about. Its not a total fold away one, its in three parts, bottom (doubles as cat bed in lounge), top (doubles as upstairs cat bed) and door (hides under the stairs). I like that he uses it as a bed as is not so strange when I do have to try and cage him as its got his scent all over it.

Actually just had another look at it and put it next to standard kitty carrier and its about twice the size :O; maybe you don't need one quite this big.

We've just returned from the US where we visited a great little pet accessories shop called salty paws. They had the perfect pet carrier for Mufasa and I was so tempted to buy it (stupid small luggage allowance). They did tell me that they will ship to the UK but I am looking for one over here first:

This would be so useful as I find him really heavy to lift in his plastic carrier, last time the handle came off and he hurtled towards the floor. In the following panic, the 'petting hatch' at the top of the carrier popped open and he tried to squeeze through it resulting in him getting stuck with his head and arm sticking out in a Michael Jackson\Freddie Mercury type pose! I have resolved to get something better now!!

I have a plastic coated wire basket for my coonies (sorry dont trust zips my daughters cat (Oriental) once managed to break out), I also bought one of the folding plastic square pull along carriers(you see them at flower shows),I can then put all my show stuff in the basket and put the cat basket on top then just wheel it behind me.
