    Main Coon Mix

    Hi,

I have been looking to adopt a kitten and someone just had a litter of kittens , the mom is a main coon and the dad is a regular american domestic cat. I am just wondering how the kittens will be ? Personality wise ? Anyone owns a main coon mix?

    Thanks.

    Hi there

It's a bit of a lottery I think - some kittens might take after mom and be very 'coon-like' but it's hard to know really.

I have a 15 week old Maine Coon mix - his mom was a pedigree MC who managed to get out of the breeder's cat-secure property. He is lovely - looks a lot like a Maine Coon but with slightly shorter hair and smaller ear tufts. He is also quite big - weighed 1.74kg at 13 weeks. He also has a lot of the Coonie personality traits - he plays with water & makes funny trilling noises when he plays. Here is a pic:

So I would say go for it - although be mindful that it is a bit of a lottery!

    xx

    Hi Kittycat,
I'm sure the kittens will be lovely, even if they take more after their dad. To be honest, though now knowing what an absolutely fantastic breed the MC is, I would want at least one full breed one.

Ps Joy, I think you've been lucky; your boy is gorgeous x
