Yeah she does have a very big ornament destroying tail lol.

Yes I will probably do it in Excel well probally Google Docs, now you can edit documents on iphone, so weigh her and update the sheet there and then, then end up with that graph on a website alone with pics etc

Would it be a good idea to measure her length? If so what is the traditional way of doing it?

I do work away from home, but due to when I get up and leave for work is a couple of hours, then home at a decent hour so she will gets lots of fuss, if she does get lonely then I might get another kitten, but probably a rescue one, but will make sure she has lots of toys, also going to probably order this ThinkGeek :: Bolt Interactive Pet Laser Toy

I think measuring their length is something of a hassle. We did it once but it took three people: the girls’ breeder to stretch them in show position, my husband to keep the tails horizontal, and me to tape-measue them from nose to tail tip.

We were once given a similar laser toy by neighbours whose cats weren’t interested in it. I set it on the floor, switched it on, and immediately Tatja started staring straight into it. I was afraid it might damage her eyes so I threw it in the bin.

Ok so I won't worry about the length sounds like that can be a hassle, are normal kitchen scales good enough?

Have a digital set that you can put any bowl on and reset to 0 would that be teh best way of doing it?

I'm not sure if there are kitchen scales that would accommodate a Maine Coon.
Many people on here (including myself) use digital baby scales.

Well went to see her today and the rest of her brothers and sisters, spent a couple of hours, in which time she licked both of my hands, if another kitten came close she would use her claws to take my hand away from them lol.

As I have read licking is a good sign, so all being well should pick her up next week

    Then the fun begins lol

    Yup, tortie...

My Minnie (not a tortie) licks my hands (and wrists and face) too but she alternates with nipping ever so gently. So it's lick-lick-lick NIP lick-lick-lick NIP - and so on...

Hiya been reading the thread from the start and I think you made the correct decision with the first kitten.

I got to stay though your new one looks super cute.

The laser toy I personally wouldnt buy. I think it sends a cat insane as he/she looks for it all the time even when your not playing with it its almost like they can turn it off from it. River my elsest cat (DS) used to have one of these and when he was younger he used to go crazy for it to the point he would take fits going crazy trying to get it (you know when a baby gets to hot and it overheats and fits). I refused to buy one when I got Basil.

That's a very good point by BasilHayden . I only used the laser toy a couple of times and then put it away never to be seen again. Poppy got herself in a terrible state trying to catch the dot - overheated, panting and completely over-excited. I was quite upset when I realised that she seemed distressed. I would not recommend it.

Thanks for the advice, I will remove it from my toy list.

Basil, thank-you for you kind words, the more I think about it the more I am happy in my decision to get one from a registered breeder, I mean I have an email chain about 50 messages long between myself and the breeder, she was happy to answer all my questions etc, much nicer than the first attempt, and yes she does look super cute, even if my hand doesn't with all the little claw marks from her defending my hand from the others while she was licking it, was very cute she would drag my hand away from the other kittens.

Have ordered a cat tree and carrier so they should arrive soon.

Of course I will post pics when I have her, I do have one from when she was a kitten at some at 17 weeks, and going to weigh her monthly to make sure she is putting on weight, and take photos of her, will have to leave my D90 out and about now to capture her antics
