I would only be worried if i was paying Maine Coon prices and it wasnt a Maine Coon.

My thoughts but what still niggles at me is its half the price of other MC kittens, which makes me wonder if its too good to be true. But as the parents are not registered might just have to take the chance.

She does seem to have the traits the fluffy ears, and feet, but will have to see her first, then decide

Just been sent another pic of her, from the side, and I am sure I heard someone say the tail should be as long as the kitten? Is this true?

Yep I would be worried as to the reason why mum & dad are not registered MC's,its not to say that they aren't genuine MC's but very often the reason why they are not registered is because people have gone behind the backs of the original breeder's contract & ignored the fact that their babes are on the "no progeny to be registered". If they then allow their cats to breed they can't be legally registered under any of the cat registration bodies,I would certainly query as to why none of them are registered & very often they are the type of people who although they say they will be there to support you actually turn out not to be if you have a problem,just be very very careful.......

Just seen your other posting,if in doubt stay away,there are too many good genuine breeders out there to put yourself in a position of not being sure....x

Thanks for the replies, I have asked them if the mum and dad are registered with the GCCF.

Their ad does say the kittens being sold as pets not registered so could mean mum and dad are, but will wait to here back.

If they come back and say are registered am I out of line asking for proof?

I totally agree. I would be worried too. The parents weren’t supposed to breed. Still, the person who is selling the kitten went ahead and bred them anyway, which doesn’t sit easy with me.

If you type “buying unregistered kitten” into Google and read through the links, you can form your own opinion. Good luck!

ETA - No you wouldn't be out of line for asking proof.

The below is a message that was posted to maine coon facebook page .....just thought you should be aware of how breeders feel about unregistered kittens .......

Warning - I stupidly let a female kitten go un neutered back end of last year, she will be about a year old now, very occasionally I just do not get the time and have let the odd one go if I feel ok with the people.
Sadly it seems I made a huge mistake as someone out there is trying to get one of our cats in to a stud. Thankyou for the heads up that one person gave me.
I DO NOT sell breeding girls
very often, this girl is registered on non active and they know this. They do not have the registration paperwork as I only give it when I receive proof of neutering, so far not received.
If anybody is contacted please take details and let me know. It is one of two sisters that I let go late last year un neutered.
