hi & a very belated welcome to the forum....we have converted most of our carport into an outside pen for our furries with a catflap direct into it from the house but we do have a solid back on it as a lot of people go by & don't like the thought of them knowing what is in there, both the pen is locked & the back gate not that I am neurotic or anything like that......!!!!! They do love having an outside area though....could you just let her out into the pen while you are about to start with just to see if she attracts any attention from passers by if she does might have to be plastic sides for part of it...we are lucky & can get away with just having panels made of the plastic on the front that we take on or off according to the weather.......

That's a great idea! There is a walking path behind our apartment. There's bushes tall enough where people can't see into our patio, however if she's on a cat tree of some kind she'll be elevated above the sight line. She's really curious about what's going on outside so I'm looking forward to getting her a little space out there where she can come and go as she pleases. I'm still not sure if I want to build a roof on top, or if I should just go with 45 degree angles.

I think I would go with solid or netting roof, the front of our pen is netting & we brought some wire inwards along the top garden side but that didn't stop Welly scaling it & arching at a super angle & getting over, I think if they can't get out it also works the other way nothing can get in,good luck pictures of finished pen please & furry enjoying herself outside....xxx

We have used Felisafe fencing at the top of our 6 foot fence and it is completely cat-proof in both directions. Sid can roam freely and safely all day and Thomas next door can sit on the fence post in the corner and watch in utter frustration!
SIdney was quite apprehensive about being outside for the first few days, now he is a proper outdoor cat with lots of tree-climbing and hunting....and no cars or cat-nappers or dogs to bother him. Best money we ever spent!
The neighbours think we have some kind of mutated squirrel!
