Thread: Question about outdoor enclosures.

Hey guys. New to the forum as well as new to cat ownership. My wife and I recently got our hands on a wonderful little 20 week old Maine coon mix. She's the most loving little thing I've ever had the chance to fall in love with!

We live in a one bedroom ground floor apartment that has a patio. She's adapted really well and has plenty of spaces to call her own. I'm thinking of building a 5' by 5' enclosure on our patio with a roof out of PVC and wire mesh. We'd like to put a kitty tree out there as well as her litter box. We'll also get the sliding glass door extension that has a pet door for her to come and go as she pleases.

Any advice or red flags before doing this? There's no other animals around us or strays. There's a walking path behind our apartment that is nice and quiet as well and no traffic. We'll still be on top of emptying the litter box whenever it's used.
