That is a huge amount of dry food for him to be having -at his age I wouldn't think he even needs half of that. Look at the side of the packet for the recommended portions that he should be having for his age and weight. For example, my youngesters get something like 35g per day of biscuits along with some bozita and wild minced rabbit.

Don't forget you are giving him bozita too so you need to give him less dry than if he was on a dry only diet.

Dry food is quite addictive for cats so most of the time if it is there they will eat it, regardless of whether they are hungry or not!

Haha! Just watch out he doesn't start belching from the other end, like Larry. Ewwww! He can clear the room in seconds. Sometimes you can actually hear it!!!

Schrodingers the same... its akin to a nuclear shockwave.. im sure i've seen his pantaloons shake.. this is normally followed by a loud "EEEEEEEeeew Schrodo!!!!" to which he'll look up non plussed... and normally meow for more food (he eats alarmingly fast).

Hi guys, I'm a couple of months off getting my two boys but after reading this thread would like a bit of advice please?

I will feed at 7am and leave for work.
I wont be able to get back home for lunch from work (too far away and only 30min lunch break ) So wont be able to put fresh food down.
Will return home at 6pm and feed again.

So is it best to feed wet food in morning
Leave out dry food to graze on during the day
Then feed wet food / mix in evening?

I don't want to leave wet food out as it could go off if not eaten and is wasteful.
Does the above sound like a good plan?

Obviously I'll speak to the breeder and find out her currant feeding regime, but not being able to be there during the day I just wanted to get some opinions.

Also, looks like im in for a shock at the amount of food they could go through Best keep an eye on things

    Hi Maybe_Mainecoon,

Thats similar to what we do with Schrodinger, wet in the morning when we have our breakfast, dry is out all the time and wet again in the evening when were having tea, i've reduced the amount of dry that we keep out though so that he doesnt just gobble the lot down (his eyes are way way way to big for his stomach!)... and dont worry, you WILL feel like your being eaten out of house and home, trust me.

Regarding the wet food, your mileage may vary but with schrodo its gone within 5 minutes, he's a ginger hoover with furry paws

Hi Ayeizajedi Thanks for the reply, just want to make sure i get a good balance of both types of feed, with minimal waste, although it sounds like NO food will be wasted

So ill measure out the amount to leave during the day, to make sure they aren't morphing into little piglets!

I'll have a ginger hoover too (he was the biggest in the litter aswell - looks like Ill have to starve whilst they eat me out of house & home!) hehe

You have no idea how much I'd like to meet your furry family, you have such great stories about them. I shall keep 'watch' on the flatulence front; perhaps she's been trumping all along and I've just been blaming OH!
