Hello, i started training Paddington at 12 weeks. I bought an adjustable harness as he was growing so quickly. I put it the harness on him, give him a treat, take it off and repeat this a number of times so he started associating his harness with something good. Then left a bigger an bigger gap between putting the harness on and giving him the treat. Did this fora few days and then eventually took him outside. Just a few minutes then brought him back in. Eventually we are now at the stage that when i get my keys off the hook in the hall he waits by the door in the hope he is coming with us too.
Pads walks on the lead now like a dog!
We take him to the shops in the car and took him to our parents house. It gives you much more freedom when you can take them with you.
We are going to start training Phoebe soon with the same technique. Good luck with it and persevere!
When Pads is a bit bigger we will buy him a walking jacket like these ones...Walking Jacket for Cats. Take your cat for a walk! Safe, secure and fun. i think it will be more comfortable for him.
