Maine Coons or Not Maine Coons
I came across this pic whilst browsing and am still trying to decide whether the cats in this photo, bearing in mind it was taken in 1941, are Maine Coons or maybe NFC's.
I'll leave it to the vote :-)

I think Maine Coons, cause NFC have a straighter bridge (nose) don't they? Maine Coons have the little curve that is one of the things that makes them so adorable! Plus the rounder eyes.. I want one of those kittens..

I would say they were NFC's due to their more rounded faces and fluffier looking but may be wrong

The Maine Coon was an all but “forgotten” breed in 1941.
According to Wikipedia the NFC did not leave Norway until 1970 and the Siberian was introduced in the USA in 1990.
That leaves the Persian… strange as it may sound. But this is very much what the Persian used to look like back then.

The ones in the crook of her arm and on her shoulder do look a little more flat faced like a Persian - I'm not sure about the others so am no help at all really

I voted No, but its hard to tell. The colourings look about right, though the ears are not big enough, but some of the kits seem to have small lynx tips. The photo needs to be compared to others from the same era of clearly identified MCs, a great deal can change in a breed over 70 years and even though today's MCs are more natural than many other pedigree breeds, I'm sure there has been some modification.

No idea, but they look incredibly sweet. Are they definitely a pedigree - might they be a cross or moggie ..?
