We phoned the vets and they said 6 months would be an ideal age for Hank to be neutered and they also do a 'deal' of microchipping and neutering at the same time. So I think we'll have him done at that age.
But we will be taking him to the vets on Saturday just to have him checked out to make sure that all is well.Add me on Facebook : Ria Brown

I heard that 6 months would be ideal for all cat breeds except for maine coons. Because they're such big cats, it would be better to wait a little longer than that if possible (it has something to do with the kneecaps; but I'll have to look it up). So that's why we like to wait a little longer before neutering our maine coons.
