Anything of the size of the sof krate we use should give plenty of room for just about any size MC,Shimba who is on par weight wise with Merl but longer goes in & still has room to stretch & move about,Merl when he uses it stretches out to begin with but when he realises it is going to be a long journey he goes to the back & curls up so small I think he would nearly look lost in the smaller wire carriers ! Going to a show Shimba travels on my lap with harness on but coming home both he & Welly can travel very comfortably together in the krate, just needs one either side on the handles to stand a chance of moving them....
At the shows you very often see smaller cats in the carriers with wheels & people with lots of cats have them in individual cages on trolleys but the carriers with smaller wheels look as if they give the animal a very bumpy ride, the wheels look very much like those on suitcases & we all know how they rattle over uneven ground so other than good old muscle power the answer may be Candes's last suggestion.
