New and scared
Hi guys.
My first post in here :-) Me and my missus have decided to get a cat, then to maybe have to of them. We will get a maine coon girl and another one from a rescue home, you know all the saving the world thing. I have just finished reading the house rules topic... I'm scared :-P
But seriously. We do not have experience with long hair cats. Well I don't have any real cat experience as I always kept rats;-) She always had a short hair cats. We are trying to prepare ourselves for it and looked on all this grooming treads and articles but as they are informative I have no idea what kind of brush looks like. Maybe someone would be so kind and post a pictures of equipment which is needed? Also I've read about this furminator thing, it seems nice idea but people are saying it can take to much of undercoat. So I don't know...
Other question is that. We will get our coonie all vet checked and vaccinated but the rescue cat will probably be not vaccinated at all. Would it be safe for him? I mean I will get him to vet ASAP but I'm worried he could catch something before I'll go, especially that coon will be fresh after booster shot.
My plan is to get them home at the same day so it will be new for both of them. I hope that in this way they will get used to it and themselves without fights. There both will be kittens. Does it make sense?
I'm in rented apartment so I'm also very afraid for the furniture. Any advice here?
Thanks for all the help :-)
